YWIH delivers both musical excellence and education while it gives young women a taste of show business. This program provides educational tools to teach young women singers the joy of performing this American vocal music art form.

Rising Star Quartet Contest

The anticipation, excitement and discipline of preparing for an adjudicated barbershop contest in an environment of learning and fun is available to women singers age 25 and younger.

The purpose of the Rising Star Quartet Contest is to encourage young women to develop mastery in their singing technique, and experience the pleasure of singing four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style.

The 2009 Rising Star Quartet Contest will be held on Saturday, October 24 at the International Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Tickets to the Rising Star Quartet Contest are sold separately from the all-events ticket. Proceeds support the Young Singers Foundation and the Young Women in Harmony program. Young Singers Foundation

The Young Singers Foundation is committed to enriching the lives of young people by supporting the educational and performance opportunities in vocal music. They award scholarships annually of at least $2,000 each to help further the vocal music education of a full-time student who is enrolled in an accredited learning institution. They offer financial grants to individuals, groups and organizations who sponsor vocal music activities for young people. Read more on their website.
